Substance Abuse/Mental Health Counselor

Job Summary:

Licensed and/or Master’s-level Counselors provide direct clinical services to all program participants, including individual and group therapy, trauma-informed interventions, and behavioral support. Counselors work with a diverse population, including justice-involved clients, youth, adults, and families. They ensure program objectives are met by supporting participant progress, documenting outcomes, and contributing to performance measurement and program evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Services: Deliver individual and group counseling sessions tailored to the needs of participants. Utilize trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, and evidence-based approaches to support behavioral health, substance use prevention, and emotional resilience.

Participant Tracking & Data Collection: Document participant attendance, engagement, and progress in the EMR/EHR system. Collect and report data required for performance measures, including program completion, behavioral outcomes, academic engagement, and substance use metrics.

Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the Program Director, Program Administrator, and other staff to ensure coordinated care, accurate reporting, and adherence to program objectives.

Outcome Monitoring & Support: Support participants in achieving program goals, including improvements in behavior, emotional well-being, self-esteem, and coping skills.

Compliance: Ensure all services comply with program, organizational, and funder requirements. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and program improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and program effectiveness. and supervise parent–child visitation sessions in accordance with court orders, agency policies, and visitation guidelines.

Qualifications:

Licensed Counselor or Master’s-level clinician in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.  MCAP, CAP preferred.

Experience providing clinical services to diverse populations, including youth, adults, families, and justice-involved individuals.

Experience with trauma-informed care, behavioral health interventions, and substance use prevention.

Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
